Paulette Brown-Hinds, PhD/Managing Partner and Chief Strategist
Dr. Paulette Brown-Hinds began her career in community outreach,
political organizing, and media at an early age. Her first jobs in high school
were phone banking, campaign organizing, and managing subscriptions for her family's
newspaper, The Black Voice News. As a high school senior she worked as an
intern in Washington DC for the late Congressman George Brown (D-CA).
She earned her PhD in English Literature with an emphasis in African-American
Literature & Culture from the University of California, Riverside, and has taught at various
universities throughout the country including the University of Cincinnati,
Pomona College, CSU San Bernardino, University of Redlands, and UC Riverside.
She is currently an adjunct faculty member in the Department of English and
Communications Studies at LaSierra University in Riverside. As an expert in ethnic
media Dr. Brown-Hinds is often asked to participate in forums on ethnic media for
various trade and academic organizations including: New America Media, West
Coast Black Publishers Association, National Newspaper Publishers Association, the
Aspen Institute for Communications and Media, and Columbia University's Graduate
School of Journalism Diversity Workshops. She is the founding director of the Inland Empire Ethnic Media Project, a partnership
between the Black Voice Foundation, University of California Riverside, Center for Ideas and Society, and New America
Media.
The firm has been hired by a number of key California candidates, initiatives, government agencies, and companies including:
Schwarzenegger 2006; Siebert Brandford Shank & Co (public finance specialists and number one ranked minority-owned
investment banking firm in the US); First Lady Maria Shriver's WE CONNECT Campaign; Coalition to Protect California's
Budget & Economy 06; the California Department of Insurance; Morongo Band of Mission Indians/Together California
Campaign; Westly for Governor 2006, and Wilmer Amina Carter for Assembly. Under Dr. Brown-Hinds' direction
BPCMediaWorks has assisted the California Black Media with a number of legislative and political briefings; negotiated
statewide advertising buys, and proposed and implemented organizational strategy.
Corey Washington/Media Relations Specialist
Corey Washington, a journalism graduate from California State University, Long Beach, joined BPC MediaWorks
after serving with several publications for the Los Angeles Newspaper Group and The Business Press, operated by the Press-Enterprise in Riverside, California.
Washington's background includes: business, technology and civic government reporting, as well as online news production. As a media relations specialist for BPC
MediaWorks, Washington's journalism experience brings a sharp perspective of media strategy and outreach that news publications seek to attract their audiences.
Anna Wenger/Project Director
Anna Wenger has had a long and varied career in project management,
event planning, and office systems development for Brown Publishing Company, Guidant, Creative Labs, and Exar Integrated
Circuits. She also brings her experience as an entrepreneur and owner of the fashion design and mail order business Onnahas to her
position with BPC MediaWorks. As project director she is responsible for implementing and coordinating all projects and campaigns for
BPC MediaWorks’ clients. In her current position she outlines goals and action items, oversees timelines, and tracks progress on each
campaign with professionalism and attention to detail. As a published writer and marketing specialist, Wenger brings a wealth of media
knowledge and expertise to the project team.
Chris Allen/CT Graffix Design Studio, Creative Director
Chris Allen, a graduate from California Baptist University in Riverside, has a Bachelor Degree in Fine Art and a diploma in Graphic
Design/Computer Graphics from Platt College. He teamed up with BPC MediaWorks after taking the entrepreneurial spirit and starting his own design
studio. With experience in graphic design, sales/marketing and office management, Chris brings his artistic flair and business knowledge to an already talented project team.
James Sweeney/JD, Business Development Director
Mr. James Sweeney is a principal of James Sweeney & Associates of
Sacramento, CA; a governmental relations and business consulting firm.
Mr. Sweeney was appointed to the State Council on Mentally Ill Offenders by prior California Governor Gray Davis (Democrat) and is retained by the
current Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (Republican). Mr. Sweeney is an equity owner of 1st Federal Financial Services, LLC which has successfully
processed over $110 million in transactions within Alameda County over the last two years. He is also a principal in GMMG, a Washington, D.C.
governmental relations and lobbying firm. He is a seasoned executive with over 35 years of government, public policy, business and economic development
experience with an emphasis on new and emerging businesses.
Since 1981, Mr. Sweeney has evaluated, selected, reviewed and implemented projects inclusive of housing, business development, and publicprivate
partnerships exceeding several billion dollars. He is a founding stockholder in Revere Bank, an organization located in Maryland; this bank
is designed to work with and assist the banking needs of small, mid-size and emerging businesses in the Maryland-D.C. area. He is an honors graduate
of UC Riverside, having majored in Political Science, Black Studies and Sociology. He also attended UC Davis School of Law and graduated
from Humphrey’s School of Law, earning a Juris Doctorate. He is currently an adjunct professor at the National Fair Housing Training Academy in
Washington, D.C.
